After the introduction track an excerpt from Pastor Kenny Thomas plays of him basically “selling miracles” which leads to “ LAnd of the Snakes” where Cole admits to his sinning and the remorse and guilt he feels of the wrongs he’s done. Cole discusses that he was letting the Devil steer his career and he was losing his way, but he’s back to making music not for the women, money, or fame, but just for the love of the art. The first thing J.Cole says is “Its way darker this time”(darker than his debut album), referring to the fact that his album will deal with a lot of Good, Evil and his struggle to do right in such a sinful filled industry. The album kicks off with “ Villuminati”,which basically sets the tone for the album. With the decision of pushing the release date up a week to compete with Kanye West’s Yeezus, a lot of attention was put on J.Cole’s sophomore album, and we get to see how it measures up.
